On The Civic Exchange
Step 1: Check All of the Causes!
Your journey starts on the front page of the Civic Exchange.
Here you can sort through causes by National, Local, Coalition, and State. You can also visit our Focus Area pages to see what causes applied for which area.
Bonus: Use the “Try Your Luck” button on the top right of the page to ensure you are making the best investment!
Finally, if you like the platform – invest in the Civic Exchange platform so that we can keep amplifying great nonpartisan projects!
Step 2: Chose Your Cause and Learn!
Whether you’re drawn to – Strengthening democracy, Elections and government, Civic tech, or Trusted information – becoming an Ambassador on the Civic Exchange starts by connecting with a cause you believe in.
Check out the Focus Areas and learn more about the spaces you are interested in and how each cause relates to each other.
Step 3: Become An Ambassador and/or Join a Team!
Once you’ve found a cause you’re exited about: create your personal Civic Exchange Ambassador page (with your own URL) by clicking “Become a Fundraiser” on the page of the cause you care about.
You can join as an Individual/Ambassador, or if you’re partnering with others, choose create/join a “Team” to collaborate or compete with your family, friends, or work buddies!
Once you are an Ambassador you can personalize your page OR/AND join or create a Team. This also means you can always login and change your profile. It’s optional for you to create a personized bio/call to action and share a photo.
Don’t forget that anonymous donations are also an option for you or anyone who wants to donate to your cause!
But, if you want to share more on why this cause matters to you, upload a profile photo (250×250 pixels works best), and set a fundraising goal – the more you invest in your profile the more people will want to invest in you!
Once you have entered your name, email, and created your your password you will have a basic page – Voila you now have a unique URL and profile repping your cause!
Whether you add profile details or not – you can grab your unique URL and start sharing it with your network via email blasts, texts, or even phone calls!
Step 4: Lead By Example - Make Your First Donation
That was easy! Now you’ve got your page! Great! You can share your personal URL or the URL of your cause directly others! Once you’ve donated – you set the pace people will want to give!
So go ahead and chose your Ambassador goal – and don’t be shy because whatever you raise will still go towards your cause AND whatever donation you start with will guide others in the amount they should donate.
Aim for the stars and if you don’t make your goal – you will still have made more than you would have on an ordinary platform!
Step 5: Get Your Page and Customize It!
Now you have YOUR page! You are an official Ambassador and can apply to get a digital badge for this first inaugural campaign!
Share, email blast, talk to others, enlist Team members (if you have a Team) OR create your own Team and invite others!
Note: We suggest you simply share an email to friends, family, and co-workers with the reason you are supporting this cause and with your direct link! You can also set up a little healthy competition if you want to build a team!
You are now an official Ambassador for your cause and you have a goal! You are representing one of these fantastic nonpartisan projects that range from local to national and you are now a part of the Civic Exchange!
Step 6: Peer-to-Peer is Not Crowdfunding!
Now it’s time to spread the word. Share your unique Ambassador page with friends, family, coworkers, and your broader network. Whether it’s through email, text, or social media, your voice can inspire others to give. The more you share, the more impact you create.
This means that YOU are reaching out and not letting social media do the job for you. YOU are explaining to others what this means to you and representing this cause. This is how your cause gets bigger donations and avoids the trap of small crowdfunding donations.
Go big! Send a short email blast to co-workers. Tell your family your care about a cause. Whatever donations come in through your link go towards your cause and are also tax-deductible!!
You are leading the way and we are here for you to assist you in advocating for your cause!
Step 7: Grow Your Portfolio & Watch The Leaderboard!
Keep the momentum going by adding more organizations to your portfolio and continuing to spread the word. As donations roll in, you’ll climb the Ambassador leaderboard—a fun way to see your impact and celebrate your efforts alongside others who are driving change.
If you’re a part of a team you will be able to see the progress of other teams in contrast to your own team as well!
