What do we do and who are we?
The Skagit Civic Hub is weaving together a powerful, people-first network across Skagit County, Washington. Through intentional collaboration between residents, local organizations, and public institutions, this grassroots effort is ensuring that the issues that matter most to the community are met with coordinated, locally-driven solutions.
Launched by Victoria Hattersley through Better Together America, this initiative recognizes that Skagit’s strength lies in its diversity and shared desire for a vibrant, connected future. By organizing around the real needs identified by community members, the Skagit Civic Hub is building civic muscle, deepening trust, and aligning resources across sectors.
What We Will Be Doing:
Over the next 6 months, the Skagit Civic Hub will:
- Identify and orient local leaders (HCT members) to steward the community-wide process forward.
- Host 5 Healing-Centered Team (HCT) meetings to build capacity, connection, and momentum.
- Hold 2 all-community “Hub” gatherings to identify shared goals and design solutions.
- Organize 3 community-building events and 2 visioning sessions that bring residents into joyful, meaningful spaces for action.
- Reach 100+ local supporters through social media and earned media, including a feature in the Skagit Herald.
Why fund our work?
We are raising $41,450 to support. Please see below for our detailed budget. Every dollar helps build a more connected, responsive, and empowered Skagit.
- Admin & project coordination staff
- Facilitators, mediators, and event organizers
- Community events (stipends, food, signage, logistics)
- Technical tools and software
- Travel costs for guest speakers and partners
How do we measure success?
We are working with Better Together America and their dedicated measurement program to ensure that our community-based intervention is a success and to understand when/if we need to re-evaluate our next moves. We are always getting input from the community and from our hub members to ensure we are best helping the community thrive!
Where do we work?
We work very locally (specifically in Skagit County!). You can view a map below.
